Mountain added on to an existing duplex in north Tacoma that was part of Tacoma’s higher density rezoning process to add new, much needed affordable housing units to the Tacoma market. We kept the original duplex to maintain the character of the neighborhood and added three stories in the backyard to allow for additional units. The building includes bike storage, onsite parking, and two ADA accessible units and is walking distance to 6th Ave attractions. Tight site conditions, minimal spare room for equipment, and working in close quarters were challenges throughout the project but Mountain was still able to deliver an on-time project that satisfied the client.
