Simpson Timber decided to demolish a 34-year old Port of Tacoma sawmill and replace it with a new, state-of-the-art facility capable of processing greater varieties of lumber with substantially increased efficiency.
Simpson managed the entire $50 million+ project in-house, dividing it into bid packages. Mountain Construction first won the contract for the massive primary buildings in a bid competition among qualified companies and then a variety of other scope packages, including concrete, 6 smaller buildings, and build-out of employee facilities and main offices.
The project required exceptional flexibility to accommodate the fast-track design and construction process involving numerous contractors, and maximum attention to safety and quality
